Swami Vivekananda born as Narendranath Dutta was chief disciple of the 19th century mystic Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He was born in an aristocratic Bengali family of Calcutta in 1863. From the childhood he showed inclination towards spirituality and God realization. He studied philosophy at the University of Calcutta in 1880-84 and founded the reformative religious society Mission of Ramakrishna in 1897. Swami Vivekananda is considered a key figure in the introduction of Hindu philosophers of Vedanta and Yoga.
